Challenges
Prolonged droughts and heatwaves occurring across various regions nationwide in recent years indicate an increasing severity of climate change. The risk of desertification in some areas poses extremely adverse implications for sustainable development in Vietnam.
Due to limited economic prospects, more and more small-scale farmers are abandoning their land and moving to larger cities to secure a livelihood. With the aim of creating livelihoods, stabilizing the lives of unplanned migrants, and promoting local agricultural production through the development of sourcing areas in Dak Lak and Lam Dong regions, CIELVI has significantly improved the income of over 100 farmers here. We have successfully established more reliable supply chains to increase productivity, thereby expanding production scale and enhancing competitiveness.
CIELVI’s Sustainable Development Strategy for Local Farmers
In order to increase income and productivity for local farmers through the establishment of sourcing areas and the establishment of reliable supply chains with high-quality products, we have implemented the following specific solutions as part of local economic development:

Through these solutions, CIELVI has taken control of the supply chain by collaborating with 20 distributors, cooperatives, traders, and over 100 local farmers, covering nearly 300 hectares of sourcing areas, providing sustainable livelihoods for nearly 500 workers, with 30% of them being ethnic minorities.
CIELVI has contributed its expertise in establishing supply chains in the agricultural economy as part of the project. Economic development is pursued in harmony with social development goals and environmental protection.
“With the application of origin traceability, we promote Sustainable Agriculture Development. Along with transitioning from traditional farming methods to organic farming, establishing a synchronized production management system to protect and enhance the health of the agricultural ecosystem, including biodiversity, biological cycles and biological productivity, we aim to enhance the position of Agriculture in Vietnam towards sustainable development goals.”
